I bought this to make Valentine's Day heart-shaped chocolate truffles. This makes the perfect size truffle - about 1" deep. All the other heart-shaped chocolate molds I saw were too shallow for truffles. This was my first time using a silicone mold for chocolate, and I found that the chocolate doesn't release on its own. After the truffle was completely ready to come out (filled, capped and set), I had to push each form inside out to get the truffle out. You have to be very gentle doing this so you don't break the chocolate. But it works. You might want your shells to be on the thicker side so they are less likely to break. The one thing I don't like about the mold is that each heart has a teardrop-shaped cutout on it, which I wish it didn't have.

I bought two of these from 2 sellers. The first one I love and use all the time. Avoid Susan's Pick's as you will receive a knock-off from China and not the Italian mold.

The silicone is perfectly smooth and shiny, not the grainy, matte, weird feeling kind. The chocolates pop right out. It just feels like a quality product. The real test will be, how many sets of chocolates can I make before the mold breaks or tears. Note to manufacturer: make the mold in a color that is not brown - it's hard to tell which parts are dirty.
